  STEVE COFFEY
Artist's Statement

"My work is elemental, with a focus on nature and the forces with which humanity has to contend. I search for a distinctive atmosphere from the immensity and grandeur of the plains to the human mark etched upon it. With both a plaintive and expressive palette of light and movement I draw both from my past, a process I call "Memory Polaroids", and from the present day of all that surrounds me. My medium is oil on canvas."

Soey Milk

Soey Milk

Paul Shanghai

 Paul Shanghai

Chinese artist Paul Shanghai uses pencils, erasers, and blending stumps on bristol board to create awesome drawings of water with a life of its own. The clear fluid takes on the shapes of a dragon, a person, flowers, and even a goldfish leaping out one bowl and into another.
At first glance, Paul’s painstaking drawings look like photo manipulation, but by looking closely at larger images of these pieces on his his DeviantART gallery, it’s clear that they really are pencil renderings. And they’re beautiful.

Richard Harper

Richard Harper

Since the early 1980’s Richard Harper’s work has been focused on exploring the limits of realist painting. Attempting to hone representation down to its essentials he chose to restrict himself to the figure. Since then the human form has been central to his work and stands as not only a representation of the human being itself but of humanity and the experience of being.

Pascal Vilcollet

Pascal Vilcollet

Pascal Vilcollet is an artist currently based out of Paris, France. Vilcollet creates large-scale paintings (some over 6.5 feet tall) of celebrity portraits, dog portraits, and other various figurative nudes that look as if the paintings are smaller in scale because of his technique and paint application. I love how well Vilcollet’s pieces are composed, and the apparent painterly quality that he really pushes to incorporate in all of his works.
